Dive Trip 1 Part I

When i was a little girl, say 5/6years old, we went on a family trip to Phuket. Water skiing and parachuting aside, I vividly remember being on a glass-bottom boat, fascinated by colours of the underwater world. More than a decade later, i find myself realising a remark i made when i was young-"i want to go down!"

14th March
Thanks to KM and team who prepared and loaded the dive equipment onto the bus, we headed for Woodlands Checkpoint at bout 1930hrs. After a record breaking wait of >2hours for the clearance of our 2 foreign group members (thanks to Mel's bf-insider's joke aka escaped JI member), uncle Heng the bus driver flaunted his "F1 racing skills".
With his sharp judgement and foresight, he was weaving in and out of traffic, conquering winding roads at what-seemed-like 90km/h and it's the best roller coaster ride i've ever taken. The best investment he could make for the comfort of his passengers is to input race seats!

We stopped by for supper and toilet break before heading to Sweet Hotel, near Mersing Jetty, to spend the night before our boat ride to Tioman which arrives at 6am. Oh yes, it was the 1st time i had Mee Soto and i must say it was a bad experience. Good presentation and smell aside, the tao-ghey was too raw, yellow mee is something i never fancied and the peanuts gave the meal too much crunch-Bad luck!

Someone possessing powers shown in The Matrix.

15th March 2008
0630hrs- 1hr boat ride from Mersing Jetty brought us to Paya Beach. It started pouring once we set foot on shore. Had breakfast (nasi lemak and teh)
and a toilet trip plagued with 6-legged blood sucking insects that costed me RM0.50.

We were housed in a kampong style wood based house with chilly water supply(albeit the malfunctional solar system) and a television that almost scared the shit out of me. 2 rooms that sleeps 8 were connected by a door. Other 2 guys, Peter the Management Consultant and Rico the Radiation Therapist certified from Down Under hailing from Hong Kong, shared a room somewhere else.

Thomas' PREGNANT! His wife, i mean.

2 smart ladies making utmost use of their beauty to be shielded from the rain.

Dive 1 presented an entirely different world down there. It has showed me to look at things in a new perspective.

Us girls looking fresh before taking our 1st leap

After so much difficulty descending, even with the help of Thomas, i surfaced after x minutes. :( One the bright side, we saw a pair of cuttlefish! Never knew they looked ugly =l
During lunch, i learnt that i should keep still and not struggle/fin down. It was a terrible feeling of uncertainty, with the regulator being my only source of survival.

Jaime and i, and very voluptuous women in the background

Not one who keeps all good stuff to himself... They share the best things in life.

Returned to shore for lunch. And while waiting.. Daidee kept us occupied! Rico and i make the best tag team. While i throw cards, he goes around.. snapping photos! Haha! No larh, we didnt cheat-he's got good foresight!

Dive 2 has taught me to face my fears calmly and to appreciate simple things, like the beauty of nature. It was the best dive that day. Best dive = controlled bottom time-35mins!! Yayyy!! Brightly coloured fishes aside, there were countless evil looking sea urchins. Uh huh.. talk about the importance of buoyancy control..

Those things.. thats black in the centre with a white halo.. look like they're gonna... eat me when they grow huge.

Funny thing. The clown fish (Nemo) always excite me!

Skills performed: Mask clear, retrieve regulator and alternate air source use. See Ryan's out of air!

Ryan has never failed to put a smile on our tired faces with his silly antics.

Peter, who's singing
Yo listen up, here's a story
About a little guy that lives in a blue world
And all day and all night and everything he sees
Is just blue like him inside and outside
Blue his house with a blue little window
And a blue Corvette and everything is blue for him
And his self and everybody around
'Cause he ain't got nobody to listen (to listen, to listen, to listen)

I'm blue, da ba dee da ba dai da ba dee da ba dai
Da ba dee da ba dai da ba dee da ba dai
Da ba dee da ba dai da ba dee da ba dai
You get the drift? Haha!
He has been of great help during the trip, giving advices, helping when no one's looking, etc. One pizza with extra cheese for you dude! :) (So he'll have a great lao sai-tee hee hee)

Melissawho just met her b.f. /\/\.S. and Peter after unlocking a treasure chest

Left to right, Melissa the muslim-lookalike-pure-chinese, the thought-to-be-/\/\S' gf, HaIimah who should had done a back flip the very moment that photo was shot , Rico and Jaime the fair lady.

Dive 3's visibility was a murky one at 5m. Jaki and i surfaced earlier (not cause we wanted to, doh!), tried descending together but to no avail. So we ended up doing what woman ought to-bitch bout anything and everything. And went over to Jaime's for a good open water cam whoring session. "Girls"-i hear some of you say. See my kawaii pink fins and pink mask-KM's trying to morph me into a HelloKitty wannabe

Ryan as he tried to figure if he captured good shots of chicks.
No doubt he did! Look at that smirk!!

Then came dinner time.
While the rest made their sandy way back to the room, Jaime Ryan Thomas and I headed for ice cream! Or was i doing an advert for WalI's ice cream? Hmmm.
Like it wasnt chilly enough, Thomas crept behind me, sneakily placed his arms under mine. I laid back on his blubber chest, cause there was a never ending flow of TRUST between us. Ryan got hold of my legs, happily did a 3 momento swing and threw me into the shallow freezing pool.
Then might as well remove the wet suit since its much easier. ;) See we talk bout trust and wanting the best for me! (Not) I sat at the dining table shivering, teeth clatterring. Brrrr.

I wiped my plate clean because i dont want a moh-peng husband in future! Old wives tale aside, the food was belly yummy yummy!

The other table bought nuggets. Kawaii heart shaped ones camera worthy! Heart broken, more like.

That night, Thomas was telling us girls ghost stories but i can barely remember em. The King(Ryan) and a Queen(supposedly referring to his gf, Samantha) sized bed occupied diagonally. Now you know who not to share a bed with.

If u recall, i was talking bout a "television that almost scared the shit out of me." Here goes.. Not an early bird despite the long day, I was watching TV while the other 3 were already in dreamland. Then the channals kept switching. I decided to take a shut eye (and leave the tv flickering for the rest of the night). I wasnt exactly freaked out. At that moment, i just thought they might be promoting other channals. I thought i saw Sg's TV 8. In the morning, Thomas went "you know, for wasting electricity, you'll go to x.th level of hell." Hey buddy, "you shitting me?" It beats wetting the bed when im still on earth right!

Peeved

My friend is so peeved with a situation at work, at which she cant elaborate at the expense of herself because freaking netizens are such flibbertigibbety fucks.
Not bothered by the preachings of karma, she hopes that the person who brought her much displeasure:
1) Her hideously painted cheeks suffer an outbreak of pimples leaving behind scars, making her face look like sponge.
2) Her ankles get dislocated somehow, even thou she walks in flats.
3) Her expanded v. gets a bad rash it itches so much she has to stay indoors and end up getting phat.
4) Her breast size becomes very unequal no amount of non invasive therapy helps.
5) She'll fart while having sex.

The voice of an antagonised young adult.

I want what i want

Cipher the following acronym : DNR
Its been plaguing me the entire day! Simply because i want to know what i do not know. You might think i'd be bored if you told me bout stocks and bonds, soccer and golf, games and programming, you get the drift? But im not. I'd be more than happy to learn from anyone just about anything.

Try this.
Eg: 24 H in a D = 24 Hours in a Day

Amongst happenings of evil Tuesday, such as scheduled patient's arriving too early, parents spying peekingpeering through the door, cotton keeds, being locked out of lDEAS, having to do downtime and rushing to enter clinical notes as PostDowntime, fighting inertia effect to head out for a swim, sudden downpour just when i set foot at the swimming complex's enterance, etc. The toughest challenge today had to be pitting a challenge against myself. Last Mon, i was able to complete half a lap of freestyle. Tues, wed, and by sat, i did 12 frog and 8 freestyle. And i thought that was amazing. The challenge today: 10 / 10. Check. Yeah!!! This week's goal: Maintain 10/10 till i pick up speed and find it comfortable.

Point is.. I realise why year in year out, the "i wanna tone up" line is penned.
I need to write goals and formulate an attainable action plan that will propel me towards my end point. Not that im fat, per se. Im usually quite confident of what i am-i just want to be better. :)

Retrolicious 2008!

HPB's Annual Dinner & Dance was held at Meritus Mandarin(Orchard)'s Grand Ballroom.

The saporous menu and low fat & calorie considerations aside, we had buckets of fun!

1) Kudos to the Healthy Workforce Comittee for putting much effort in the design of invitation cards, registration, sound and visual systems, overall decor, photo booth, hairstyling & henna booth and all other pre dinner activities i missed :( for i was dolling up in the comfort of home. (Im so proud of my ability to don fake lashies in 2 mins(1st try!!) and fix my curly wurlies myself!)
Not forgetting our sponsors-every guest took home 6 lil bottles of Nescafe coffee granules-what a double dealing-kicking our central nervous system every morning in an attempt to make us start work early. Hmmm..
Plus the 1st and most delightful dish, a 20$ NTUC voucher! (that makes tonight's dinner $10, effectively.)

2) Dining with Fuglies, AWW, P, GS and WX was very comfortable! I cant imagine sharing a table with strangers! Or think consumption of saliva with one who's plagued with chronic moderate-severe periodontitis-ewwww. Kel, this's for you-gingivospermidoits(Insider's joke) :D Tee hee hee.

3) Camwhoring during the Dancercise competition. Excuse me for being rude cause i find no sense in engaging the audience in a work out session halfway through dinner.
Tons were dresses to the nines, dressed to kill, dressed to impress, dressed to the occassion-you get the drift?- it'd be a waste if those moments werent digitally captured! Think wigs, psychedelic prints, huge ah-go-go accessories, headbands, sequins, hats (?Beret?-CORRECT ME), prints, etc.

4) Like any other events, there was an individual question&answer game, asking questions relating to my puerile days-we were too young to remember larh. The entire table of pretty ladies effortlessly blended into the wall curtains.
But we rose to the occassion when we heard it was a table prize with general questions relating to the board! Thanks to leen and cady who kick start the cat calls, all of us cheered(to make table46 known) & stood together plus a wrong answer from the emcee's helper, we got that "how many staff are there in hpb?" question incorrect.

5) Cady and Leen's piquant wit and their fascination with asparagus-that prolly needed a Via*ra boost.
I forgot to mention Cady's NEW VIDEOCAM. Uhhh huh.. Someone's keeping up with trends ehhh.

6) 3 best dressed nominated pairs and their impromtu catwalk.
The 1st pair won our jeers for being unsporting and lack lusture. The guy was so damn shy larh! I mean, since you're on stage hiding behind your huge sun glasses, show us your wild side please.
The 2nd pair hailed from Shanghai. Their catwalk made a stark contrast to the 1st pair and brought much laughter and whistles.
Of cause, our biased vote went to the 3rd pair, for K was from SDS. Coupled with an uber gutsy unsexy man-ass shake and bunches of orchids from the audience, they walked away with a cash voucher from i-dunnoe-where.

7) Post dinner dance (Miss Retrolicious, K, joined us!) was hell silly and awkard. Its been so long since i made an attempt to mooove to the grooove.
I cant remember whose stupid idea it was to surround and dance with an aged man-he was with a partner reminiscing good o days cannnn!!
Changing target was unfortunate business for YH from R&E, the guy from Best Dressed pair 2. The luck of the scarce draw was made limelight when we surrounded him as he audaciously danced for us! Seconds ticked and the moment i came to my senses, we were dancing and prancing on jingle bell square the dancefloor! Jolted too, that preppy guy gently returned me to the girls. Okay, maybe its fortunate business (for him) afterall!

nauticalstar* says: reserve for u man.
during our sign language classes, he has a wide variety of clothes
Jovelle Ruth says:
I cant imagine digging out my old brown plastic specs and wear it on a date with him
nauticalstar* says:
hahahahahhahahahaha. Oh my.
maybe sat night too dark he cant remember u
Jovelle Ruth says:
(Then let it remain a) one time escapade.
Jovelle Ruth says:
Why are we even talking bout him
is he handsome?
nauticalstar* says:
yes
Jovelle Ruth says:
REALLY MEH
ok what to do next.
nauticalstar* says:
some thing tellls me he is (ghey). u know why *Inserted Tues 1am, for clarification and proof against defamation and discrimination purposes, he is not ghey. ;)
Jovelle Ruth says:
WHY
nauticalstar* says:
hmmm if he isnt gay, he'll surely confess his love for me in sign language class
nauticalstar* says:
MUHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHA

8) Then Kel, Carmen, Leen, Cady, Kel's deaRic and i went la-kopi till 2+ am! Which left Richard very bored for dental talk dominated the session.
Oh! We witnessed a minor collision outside Mandarin's carpark. The taxi, on the steep slope, bumped into the front driver's door.
The Honda suv right behind the taxi started reversing, paying no attention to Kel who was an inch away. Ric was swift and pulled her away.
Sometimes i wish there was someone to take care of me too!

Ah huh. So many of you are reading. Didnt come surprising! Good job!

Burps From Work

Case 1
Z lost his toothbrushing kit during recess. On compassionate grounds, i nagged and handed him another kit.
Collegue: Say, thank you.
Kid: In a super duper gleeful tone "Thank you, aunty" Then acted like nothing was wrong with calling me aunty.
Me: There's no aunty here
Collegue: Say, thank you pretty jie jie
Kid: Thank you pretty jie jie
Me: Thank this aunty, too.
Kid: Thank this aunty
HAHAHAHAHA.

Case 2
ZT was pushed by another, fell, presented all bloody, whiney and scared. C, my regular fan who often picks up fights, defies teachers, rebutted my C$ and the culprit of all naughty things, rose to the occassion and left me giggling the next 10mins.
He sat ZT down, cleaned up his blood soaked fingers, took him a cup and asked him to spit and rinse. The entire 'reassure patient' protocol was executed by C in his own lil way-someone who didnt seem to careless.
Holding ZT's hands and patting his head occassionally, he sent him to the office and up the hall. I wonder if he returned to class, accompanied ZT till the bell rang or wandered off somewhere else.
So heartwarming, isnt it.

I have since instilled/trying to instill some good morales and values into C. No one is hopeless. I want to keep sowing seeds of hope and faith even if i dont see change; someday, somehow there will be.

Case 3
The fcuking irritating pricks parents and some patients here are akin to caustic agents biting me-day in day out via the telephone or their physical presence.
They expect to be attended to their whims and fancies right away-"comeon la, go private make appointment le also must wait".
They call and drag their sentences, not thinking the operator's in the middle of a procedure-worst, they didnt get through once and would tell me "i've been trying to call through the entire morning" - hello, your kid goes to school at 7am don't mean i start work at 7am-i dont go home nor have recess time when the bell rings.
They get overly anxious at nitty gritties, even after explanation and reassurance.
They think a loose tooth is of great danger and classify it an emergency to have it removed, even at the expense of a traumatic experience.
They don't read/ignore/comprehend the month's schedule pasted on the clinic's door.
They knock (violently) at the locked door or bang the gates against a concrete wall during lunch hour.
They love choosing odd timings and would be compliant when i use the following magic words "its the first appointment, so your child wouldnt have to wait for their turn" Actually, i hate it cause i'd be in the middle of treating a class and an interruption slows things down.
The lower and upper class are grateful for your service, while the haughty middle class thinks its something owed.
They open your drawers and think nothing is wrong with invading your privacy.
They love roleplay-one sits on the dental chair, while the "operator" lowers and chair and looks into their friend's plague-filled mouth.
They wash and drip dry their hands on the floor when i told em to help themselves to paper towels.
They ask for appointments and never turn up on time/fail them-without basic courtesy of informing.
They are so.. what the fcuk. But i dont get affected too easily because i know i've done no wrong against my conscience, nor is it worthy to fume and put my beautiful face at risk of developing (more) wrinkles and bad(der) skin. Afterall, its now a take it or leave it situation.
They can make this list go on-but what's the point when the list can be shortened if mankind becomes aware of situations and be generous with their courtesies. Who can make the world a better place? You and me!

Case 4
Im grateful majority of the teachers release their students for dental treatment. The minority group who (always) instructs pupils to come down during recess time think i work effective 2 hours a day-2 recess slots per session (am/pm).

All in a day's work!
Phew, tgif tomorrow!

Everytime my hands itch to hail a cab, i'll remind myself "a penny saved is a penny earned".

I want to sit a 0.3carat, D-F colour, clarity VS1/VS2, round brilliant cut stone on my attached ear lobes when im 21! March April May June July August September October NOVEMBER!
Tee hee hee.
What so fancy bout a hard material that sparkles? Beats me!

Marching On

Saturday, 1st of March.

Leap Day Date: Check.
DD and i met up during unearthly hours of Sat despite being drained from work.

PADI Open Water Theory Class & Test: Easy peasy check!

Dinner date: Check.
Venue: Harry's Steakhouse@The Esplanade with A.L.some company! Followed by a tete a tete at ClarkeQuay's Fashi0n Bar.

Dining at Harry's brought back fond memories.
When i was very young, living in Bishan with a built in convection oven, dad and mum used to purchase juicy slabs of steak, have it mildly seasoned and serve it for brunch with a sunny side up and baskets of crinkle cut double fried fries.

I remember closing the oven's door (instead of leaving it ajar for heat escape) immediately after the last batch of fillet was done perfect medium rare. While eagerly sprikling ground pepper, i heard the shattering cry of the glass door-and that was followed by a thunderous cry from a 5 year old. The oven was fixed at extortion of >$200! I remember surrendering my mail-box look-a-like coin bank. There goes my life's savings for being ignorant.

Happy Leap Day!

Today is special because..

It's an extra day added to the month of February (to keep the calendar year synchronised with the astronomical/seasonal year).

Seasons and astronomical events do not repeat at an exact number of full days, so a calendar which had the same number of days in each year would over time drift with respect to the event it was supposed to track. By occasionally inserting (intercalating) an additional day into the year, the drift can be corrected.

It is a tradition that women may propose marriage on leap years.

A leap day is more likely to occur on Mondays or Wednesdays rather than other days because the Gregorian calendar repeats itself every 400 years. Therefore February 29 can occur 15 times on a Monday or Wednesday, 14 times on a Friday or Saturday and 13 times on a Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday.

According to English law, February 29th was ignored and had no legal status. So a crime on the day is no crime at all.

The last time February had 5 Fridays was in 1980 and next time will be in 2036.

I'll be collecting my long awaited altered jeans this evening!

Im going on a date with DD tonight!

Signing off with overflowing vim and vigor.

"Time goes by.. so slowly.. Waiting for your call baby night and day.. I'm fed up.. I'm tired of waiting on you.."

Tonight is extra special because..
I didnt go on a date with DD!

1) DD had to cover duties for a friend-fc*k. Thanks to /\/\$K on the lose. I guess /\/$ is xxxxxx even for /\/\0's.
2) Its been very long since i felt d-i-s-a-p-o-i-n-t-m-e-n-t.
I had a strong gut feeling that tonight's date isnt part of history but nonetheless maintained high hopes. But who's to say what to do when the nation calls for exigency accelerated.
3) I sat down, rationalized logically why i was feeling sour-because we agreed to spend this special day a week ago.
4) I might be living in self denial but who cares-I repeatedly remind my negative thoughts that he's hit the sack after a long day at work. In any case, its a new day and all i should look forward to is scuba class and a dinner appointment on Sat night! I hope tomorrow's dinner will be one full of banter, laughter and sapient talk!

Seconds after i hit on the exclamation mark,

5) DD asked to meet up.
"I supply hugs and kisses, make your order."
Had i not known him for long, i'd have concluded that it was his di*k talking.

Signing off on a im-trying-damn-hard-to-be-cheerful and im-playing-hard-to-get note.

Then again, whats the hoo-haa bout a leap day? Nor a cancelled dinner date?

Work And Its Escapade

My Chief of Staff came by for her monthly duties. She has been nettling me with her unnecessary advices, comments and what not. :)

Very motherly.

.. ... extracted because netizens are becoming Nosy FParkers.. Because there's a certain extent of liberation to freedom of speech.

But all was forgotten when i returned from lunch. I saw my eye candy clad in a checkered shirt and khakis, walking past the class room block's veranda. Tee hee hee.

Actually, J.L.N. isnt much to rave about. Just some form of escape from mundane work life. I've not even had a chance for a good scrutinization of his extra oral features! So all that i perceive him to be might just be my ideal-for now.

Signing off from a self-declared slack afternoon at work.

Blogthings Part II

Lady boss was asking if i'd like to get married this year (Say.. I have a stable boyfriend). My first instincts were: Hell NO! I want to continue having fun, travelling, focus on my career, etc.
But on second thoughts, I was thinking, why not?
Shamelessly, i think i'd be able to manage marriage preparations, choosing a flat, designing-electrical-furnishing-cleaning the place, being a girlfriend-wife-friend-confidante and the what nots of tying the knot. Nuff said-decided to shelve that idea for now. Marriage preparations is exhausting business, and expensive. Moreover, i dont even have a partner, for Pete's sake.

Here's to my suitors/future boyfriend..

Blogthings says..Guys Like That I'm Sensitive
And not in that "cry at a drop of a hat" sort of way
I just get most guys - even if I'm not trying to
Guys find it is easy to confide in me and tell me their secrets
No wonder I tend to get close quickly in relationships!

Blogthings says.. I'm a Soft Kisser
My kissing style is understated, but effective
I give soft, sweet, and soulful kisses.
And the key is, I only give kisses to someone incredibly special
Because I don't just go around kissing anyone

Blogthings says..My Seduction Style: Prized Object
The seduction game I play is tried, true, and still effective: hard to get.
I know that the best seducers turn the tables - and get their crush to seduce them.
The one running has the power, and I'm a challenge that is worth the chase.
I'm a master of enticing and pulling back. Giving a little and taking some away. (Sounds like what i always tell my girlfriends-the KITE theory)
I am controlled enough to know rewards come after a long seduction dance.
Even though I want to call, email, or say "I love you" first - I don't!
My style is the perfect mix of hot and cold - so much so that I have many suitors.
I'm skilled at inspiring a chase. The real test is picking the person to slow down for.

Blogthings says.. Im A Dare Devil.
For me, life is one big dare.
And I'm all in for any adventure.
Others find me exciting, inspiring, and a bit intimidating.
My biggest challenge at this point is trying to top myself!

Blogthings says .. I'm Fairly Skeptical
I'm not the type of person who will fall for anything...
But do keep my mind open to all sorts of possibilities.
I figure that anything could be true. After all, the world is a strange place.
However, I'm going to need some convincing before I can believe in aliens or reincarnation!

Blogthings says.. I'm A Timeless Beauty.
That looks great in every decade
Instead of following trends, I stick to what works
And this means I never skimp on my beauty routine
Upside? My classic looks tends to attract gentlemen - not boys.

Blogthings says.. I'm Left Brained In Love
Cool and clearheaded
Tend not to get swept away
Dependable and trustworthy
Able to look at thing objectively
Honest and direct in relationships
Rely on standards when picking a man
Good at solving relationship problems
Ready to compete for my sweetie's heart
Articulate, a good conversationalist, and witty
Think overly romantic displays are a waste of time
A few serious boyfriends as opposed to many flings
Notice all of the details about my guy - good and bad

Blogthings says.. Im Low Maintenance
Otherwise known as "too good to be true"
I'm one laid back chica - and men love that!
Just remember that no good guy likes a doormat.

Blogthings says.. I'm A Professional Girlfriend!

I'm the perfect girlfriend - big surprise!
Heaven knows I've had enough practice. That's why I'm a total pro.
I know how to act in every situation ... to make both me and my guy happy.

Blogthings says..My PMS Disaster Level: Low
I have a little PMS every now and then, but it's not bad at all.
No one probably notices except me.

Blogthings says.. I'm A Romantic Realist

I tend to be grounded when it comes to romance.
Sure, I can fall hard... but only for someone I've gotten to know.
And once I'm in love, I can be a total romantic goofball...
But I'd never admit it to my friends!

Blogthings says.. I Should Drive a Toyota FJ Cruiser
A true adventurer, I'm always up for trying the latest new thing.
And i need a car that will take me anywhere, because there are no roads where I'm going!
(Technically, i'd prefer a manual sedan with smooth curves here in Sg)

Time check: 1am. I've wasted an hour on

No turning back

C\/\/S just texted me on MS/\/. He initiated the conversation, but i was doing most of the talking. (Like always when i meet new people)
我好想把疼痛哭出来. Beyond the real me others perceive, i do have flaws. I make rationale decisions but emotions and the past do get the better of me.

不是后悔放弃我们的爱. 只是令我心碎的事情沒转折点.

我不後悔
作曲:陳國華 填詞:許常德
演唱:林志穎

说好了不回头不想承诺
缘份尽了你别过头
When it's all been said, I won't turn back nor ask for promises
We weren't meant to be, it's not your fault

如果还有什么值得我逗留
我想是你爱过我
If there's anything that would be worth staying for
It's that you loved me

只是路无尽头都是路过
什么感受我能带走
This path doesn't end, but we're just passersby
What can I take with me

眼泪可以不流心碎不能救
看我能否得自由当我松开你的手
No tears can take away the heartbreak, nor can they save me
Let's see if I can free myself when I free your hand

一些风沙哽住眼眸
爱你最后一幕却模糊带过
The wind blows sand into my eyes
Leaving me with a blurred vision of the final act of our love

不让疼痛有路追究
I won't leave the pain any way in

我不后悔我曾爱过
只是天涯从此寂寞
远去的渡口彼岸的灯火
人在河流只许漂泊
I have no regrets, for I have loved
But my world will henceforth be a lonely one
Lights glimmer on that distant shore
And we float in the river of life

我不后悔被你爱过
只是不能爱到最后
短暂的幸福拥有就足够
只要舍得就会快乐会快乐
I have no regrets, for I was loved by you
Though that love couldn't last till the end of time
Having had that joy for a short time will suffice
If only I could cast it off, I would be happy, I would be happy

(I couldnt really comprehend the Chinese lyrics hence Googled its English translation. Pardon me!)

What do you think?

Lunch time Snippets

Why do croutons come in airtight packages? Aren't they just stale bread to begin with?

If people from Poland are called Poles, then why aren't people from Holland called Holes?

If a pig loses its voice, is it disgruntled?

Why is a person who plays the piano called a pianist, but a person who drives a race car is not called a racist?

If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen defrocked, then doesn't it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, tree surgeons debarked, and dry cleaners depressed?

If Fed Ex and UPS were to merge, would they call it Fed UP?

Do Lipton Tea employees take "coffee breaks?"

As income tax time approaches, did you ever notice: When you put the two words"The" and "IRS" together,it spells ..... "THEIRS"?

Pro-crastinate

I've been a professional procrastinator since graduation from the polytechnic.
XX has been urging me to want it badly enough and pursue what i really want, urging me to write Letters of Evaluation, application essays and the like.
I've been casting my dream away, somewhere at the back of my head, time again and again, months after months.
When i finally got down to it. I am gripped by fear. As i read through lines after lines of procedures, i sink deeper. Suddenly, I closed all tabs that i eagerly opened. Akin to a quicksand, i am overwhelmed by obstacles that i've not even stepped into.
I fear.
I shall reopen them again. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe wed, thurs, fri. Sat might be the day i gather enough rest and courage to find out more. Definately by sunday.
I wish i'd be satisfied with my diploma. No, its not the money, any longer. Week in week out, i observe and want to be like Boss. I dont want to drill fill bill all my life. I want to think of other ways of helping a soul. I want to contribute to the life of others, i want to improve their standard of living. I dont care if i get left on the shelf. I think this is what they call passion. I think i lack the urgency to pursue.
Nowadays, i just want to stay home, read a book, catch more rest, mingle a lil and head out once in awhile.

I remember reading a History book. It states. Fear not, for I am with you. It states. Lead me to a rock higher than i.

Signing off,
the other side.

Post Valentine's Analysis

" The whole holiday is made to further emphasize who is in a relationship and who isn't. Do we need a special day to point this out? Word generally gets out without us having a whole holiday for it. It's a shame that people have to feel lonely during Valentine's Day. (It's a shame if porcupines have to feel lonely during Valentine's Day too, but at least you can understand the hesitation to hug.) "

Cupid just dont understand how lovey-dovey sentiments are. So they'd rather stick with their winged arrow-shooting baby making people feel bad for being lonely every Feb 14. There should be a retaliatory holiday on the 15th called Stupid Cupid's Day. The mascot will be a baby wielding a dental drill(high speed please), and we will celebrate by stunning each other with tasers. It does seem unpleasant, but look: at least Valentine's Day is over.

The good? My hypothesis!
An abilty to glean if the recipient of a bouquet has positive feelings for the other and/or the terribly overpriced posies.

1) She gleemingly struts downtown, chest out stomach in, your well spent plants held in her bosom. Congratulations.
2) Her hands perpendicular to the ground, your flowers 45 deg to the velvet sky. She's proud to receive, but has got little/no interest in you. Well, try harder!
3) Worst case scenario: She grasps the stalks, walks briskly with locked elbows, thumbs pointed to the concrete tarred road. Interpret: She finds no interest in the bouquet, nor the sender.

Well, just my 2 cents.

Here's Ruth's witty lil sis:

(Preparing for a jog after work today)
Mum: Why are you exercising so regularly?
Ruth: I think i should really start doing something bout my phats.
Mum: Did you join a club? Like Calif0rnia or Am0re?
Ruth: No. Just swimming and jogging at the park connector.
Sis: You did! TAF CLUB. (Trim And Fit Club-the infamous program back during my primary school days which conscripted overweight students into exercise.Ironically, if you flip TAF around, you get the FAT acronym. How's that.) In my school, its called FAC Club! Acronym for Fitness And Conditioning Club, more interpreted as Fat And Chubby Club.

(Complaining bout my collegue.)
Ruth: Fark her, really.
Sis: Wah, so much love ar?

Im ONE YEAR her senior-she's fifteen. Uhh huhhh.. That makes me Sweet 16! *Skips around. I guess that line's too much of an understatement of my age.

Whats the hoo-haa bout being 21 and buying a key shaped necklace? I just dont get it, yet, probably. The good's being able to watch macabre tales and get sleepless nights-giving me an excuse to get cuddled to bed. Tee hee hee. Then again, by whom? Im single-but not available. Thou i long to ride on a white horse into the sunset with my prince charming.

Uh huh. I shall pen again. Its 12.55am Monday and i think im getting a lil cranky due to an ever chronic lack of sleep.

Rat Race

Ruth's no longer living in a PIG sty for she was busy spring cleaning the past few days!

Welcome to RAT race 2008.

Even if you win this race, you're still a rat.

Cheers. And pull your ears. Happy holidays!

Toothy

Working alone in the new school is plain sailing. Everyday's a routine, not challenging yet energy depleting. Its been awhile since i last solved a problem at work. O, i dont even recall a difficult situation-be it clinical or clerical. I've not been using my brains and i feel like a machine. These cotton kids magically fire the ingratiated tone in me, deliberatly.

Seeing patients one after another non stop puts my bladder at risk, wringing seconds to sip my daily caffeine fix increases my caries risk.
Answering calls from overly anxious parents and spoilt kids who want treatment right away raises my blood pressure. You are turned away, tactfully. In the private sector, appointments have to be made-much more the Sch00l Dental Service. Sorry, not gonna!

You know you're well-liked by the general population when you receive greetings and smiles when you're out of the clinic, when students drop by during recess, when they say "thank you" and skip out of the office. I know i'm well liked. Because i respect and sincerely want the best for my clients.

My seni0r manager called some time ago, questioning a procedure (preventive resin restoration) i did. The preventive resin restoration is a logical extension of the sealant philosophy. The preventive approach of sealing susceptible pits and fissures is combined with conservative occlusal cavity preparation. Instead of the traditional "extension for prevention" philosophy, PRRs limit cavity preparation to discrete areas of decay. These preparations are filled with a preventive restorative material, such as a resin or glass-ionomer, or a combination. Then the restoration and entire occlusal surface of the tooth is sealed. Sounds good?

Her questions, tagged with evident hostility clearly displayed her outdated belief in long deceased G.V.Black's principles. In short, if i recalled accurately, she said/asked (my reply) , "I checked your returns and saw that you did PRRs. (Yes) Are you taught to do so? (Yes) But PRRs are done only by clinical supervisors. You're taught to use CR? (Yes, but i used GIC because I have no access to CRs) I need to check if you're allowed to do PRRs. (Ok no problem. Shall i recall the patients, remove the GIC, deepen and place amalgams?) I think you leave it but let me check if you can do PRRs.

And you wonder whats the fuss over moisture forgiving, economical, possibly environmentally hazardous, questionably toxic mercury, durable, occupational hazardous, in-adhesive amalgams-Aesthetics.

My stand is, the advantages of newer materials far outweigh amalgam restorations, hence the material of choice for the permanent dentition. Yet, credits to amalgam and its minimal technique sensitive advantages cant be denied-use em in the primary dentition lorr.

I want the best for everyone i meet. I, too, desire good karma, my dears.

All in a day's work. All for a paltry sum credited to the non-existant zeros on my bank account.

Birthdays

My scribbles on the parties i attended since Jan.

Pearline

I almost got lost in the Far East exiting the SLE prematurely! Found WhiteSands after circling Loyang and went via the bus route. I arrived a tad too late and so regretted it. Brought along Pictionary and Taboo but only had time for a lil mingling with Fugs and ex classmates. Most of her guests were sportingly spotted in green! The cake was awesome. Its a wonder how hazelnut and chocolate complement each other so well! Best wishes to Pearline, her love and 2008. :)

Gaithiri's birthday bash was held 2 Saturdays(12th) ago at S.A.F.R.A Yishun. It was a night of purple, white and silver grandeur. 3 tables for amalga.mates, and the majority of us donned white. Her entire bash costs an ass whopping 6grand, 2k lesser than her (really skinny) elder sister. *Whoa*
Gaiz, the lovely lulu, bewitched me with her immaculate make up and hair do-I had no choice but shamelessly called for the busy host to pose for the camera! Her 3 glittery sets of ethnic saris made us look like peasants!
Kel and i, the lovers of indian cuisine, enjoyed the very yummy buffet. *Remember how we used to go for indian dough and nasi branyani? Broke the last piece of papadum and savoured it together gleemingly?*
Cady and Leen were unusally high that night. They readily applaused, cheer and sing (in a really high key, i must emphasize). They make the best emcees!

Julius had a pre-celebration on Friday night at O'Bar and celebrated his 22nd @ Hard Rock on 20th Jan.

O'Bar
Charlie and his angels right outside O'Bar

And his boyfriends

XiaoChris aka XiaoPang (lil fatty)-i just call him AhBoy larh! The youngest in the group and the reason we're not at ButterFactory. Cant ever seem to figure that look on his face. Wonder what's up his sleeves. *Hurrr hurrr hurrr.

Ever goofy Etienne. The all in one commentator, stand up commedian, entertainer and politician.

Left: Aaron, said to be the most Caucasian looking lad-thanks to his deep sunken lazy eyes.
Followed by Daniel-the vegetable chopper at $imLim, birthdayboy and a very buffed up Ninja-my legendary xiao lao gong.

Here's Donovan(median diastema)-the half African, full womaniser :D and a uber photogenic Weiye-serving the nation but keeping up with fashion, nonetheless. Excuse my disgustingly parted bangs.

S.W.A.T. shi-fu and Miss Baba. Mentor Jeremy and Dras. I have to salute and learn from her sensual dance moooves!

The girls.

Oh. I kissed 4girls that night. No, it was alcohol kissing, not me. *Touche!

Not forgetting Liang, who unknowingly didnt snap any photos that night, was charmingly clad in jet black shirt, jeans and sneakers.

Hard Rock

What the folks at HRC call Birthday Surprise.
1) Blow a candle using 3 connected straws passing through his thighs

2) Dig out an artificial cherry with his tongue. Of cause, pop goes the nose larh!

3) Lick whipped cream off my waist in a sensual manner.
Any idiot can tell Tracy's enraptured-at my expense.
Now you see. Now you dont!

Sometimes, i think i'm damn light.

4) Dance.
I almost thought i was celebrating MY birthday. Half the sabotage were targeted at ME! *Hmpf!

Dont group photos make things alot easier? and less interesting?

The following peeps joined us for HRC too!
Ben who pengs prata and sausages with sweat trickling down his temples & XiaoWan the office lady working in the same area as me!

Jin Hyung, Julius' kimchi collegue & Sherman-Julius' beady eyed brother.

Et's very pari pari pretty pretty love, Mary!

Dennis & Joyce, the "conjoined twins".

24th Jan, 1.37am.
Good morning Earthlings. Full moon tonight.
Just returned from dinner with Tim & Aloy followed by a chill out session with the regulars. I hate saying this on a balmy night but i just needed to let it out before turning in.

I wonder if female species around my age understand the importance of expanding ones social circle? Not that having contacts everywhere is important, per se, but its bout the process of engaging, listening and conversing (intellectually) you see. I dont quite understand why some (girls) cant maintain decent conversations with others who are trying to strike one. I admire their ability to turn people off the very moment they speak. The higher levels ones put me off simply by rolling their heavily-mascaraed-lashes combined with unintentionally-smudged-lined-eyes. Dont even mention bout their lavishly abundant lifestyle-are you leeching off the hard work and sweat of someone else? If the previously mentioned statement is true, you're a prodigal-and thats an understatement. My oh my, why am i even wasting time bothering bout em, sacrificing precious beauty sleep? They just make the majority of turkeys dreaming to soar like eagles. Flight plan zero. Kudus, not!
And so, good night sweetie!

Catamenia Catastrophe

Catamenia Catastrophe

Little Miss Cata bombed a code-red surprise on workaholic me and blemished my suit dress cardinal. Of all days, the air-con maintainence man had to make a trip today. After hurrying him off, i applied for an urgent half day leave. Covering the area just below my ass, i sauntered out of school like nothing happened and hailed a cab, most abashed.
In case you're wondering, I missed my period last month and am prepared for a sudden aunty-visit. I guess i was too busy and engrossed at work that i didnt feel a thing. On top of that, i dont usually experience code-red such as menstrual cramps nor plague my pals with mood swings.
Yet im so thankful my leave was granted via a phone call and am able to go for a full pedicure session this afternoon! *Skips around!*

Not the most glorifying matter to start 2008 with. Looking forward to 6th Feb, tie up the lunar year and start afresh-again. Strong believer in giving and receiving 2nd chances.

Passed by a 3 vehicle minor collision at Whampoa South on my way back. A motorbike, van and salon car were involved. Butt on tar, face white washed, the rider was trying to 'blow' dirt off his grazed arm. Being a kind hearted and k-po citizen of Sg, I took a quick shower, grabbed medical wound cleansing supplies and cycled down. I swear i was as fast(10mins) as Dash(Incredibles) can be, but was prolly 5mins too late. The casualty has been sent off, car driven off, leaving the van and its driver, a chui bike and a Traffic Police reporting the situation. The disappointed citizen u-turned for home.
Point is, lunch time and on a busy road towards the city, doesnt anyone who bothered slowing down to look-see stock a FirstAidKit in the car? Or are we carried away by the hustle bustle of life and neglect the survival and shelter needs of others? Did anyone offer a lift to the injured? Was speeding, using communication devices, poor judgement, .. the cause of the accident?
On hindsight, i see the need to always be ready, in season and off season. The need to foresee changes and expect the unexpected. In an instance, these are no longer lines quoted ever so often, but a learning point at the expense of others, indeed.

Oh. The full pedicure session took bout an hour and am currently wearing OPl Got The Blues For Red. I prefer the previous, OPl Rose Petal! Up next, i wanna try OPl Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ.

Yippee. Signing off on my most hated day of the week: Tuesday.
Mondays arent blue .. because .. the weekends just passed.
Tuesdays are a turn off .. because .. weekends seem eons away.
Wednesdays pass by fast .. because .. its the hump of the week.
Thursdays makes my neck grow longer .. because .. friday's nearing.
Fridays are to thank god for .. because .. its the end of a work week.
Saturday is my Sabbath and i respect it .. because i work on Sunday too.
Sunday's work is ironically dreadful yet fulfilling .. because i get to learn and earn.

I must say im one random girl.

Rhapsody

I cant think of a suitable title for the following paragraph, but i figured a hint of enthusiasm in roller blading right now. There's this estatic feeling being on 4 wheels-8, actually. I know we look like a bluebird (translates 'lan.jiao', chinese.&.dialect for the male organ of copulation and urinary excretion.) but having set feet in the workforce, i cant afford to have another knee injury, much less an injured wrist arm.

Anyways, if there's one make-up product that i can't live without, its gotta be M.A.C.'s Eye Br0ws in Lingering (Crayon Pour Les Sourcils)! It confidently adds shape, defination, colour and density, is self propelling and self sharpening-all in one streamlined tool! Striking arches adds confidence throughout the day! Easy to tote around, fits snugly in my wristlet but that doest really matter cause this stuff is long wearing! After 10-hours out: Yes, i do have deep lines under eye caused by habitual vigrous rubbing before sleep. Yes, i do have dark eye rings. Yes, i do have a rash on the inner cantus. Yes, i looked like i used marker eye liner but i didnt. Yes, there's no mascara on. Yes, this photo doesnt do justice to my double eyelids. Yes, i have to boast bout my almond shaped eyes. Yes, i love my LASIK-ed orcs! Oh no, my ill-trimmed brow has casted a shadow on my lids!

Before this mystical invention, I swore by M.A.C.'s Brow Finisher in Beige Blonde. Its a slant tip, wax-style(smooth and non-sticky!) grooming tool specially formulated to shape and hold the brows in place while providing them with a sheer, slick, polished and conditioned-looking finish. Long wearing but doesnt fill up gaps as well as EyeBrows! Oh, in case you're wondering, its non-sharpening too, dumbnut.

Venturing into mascara's because nature hasnt blessed me with lush, luxe lashes. Yet with the stroke of a brush, abracadabra! Mirror mirror on the wall. Who's got the widest brightest sexiest peepers?

I didnt get an A+ in make up class. Yet 2 coats and my lashes fatten and seperate nicely.
Au revoir to fatigued orbits!

Contary to the belief of many, M.A.C really is a budget contender to premium brands. I SWEAR BY IT in every cent sense.

New Clinic

I couldnt help but rant bout my new work environment. Kindly bear with me!

1) Clinical supervisor is way too naggy. I heard of the multiple rocks that sparkles and sits on her wrinkled fingers.
2) Senior manager isnt one bit senile. I dont know why kel and i calls her lobang. She does nothing with loopholes.
3) New part time collegue, who comes in the afternoon has caused me much inconvenience. She's put in charge of the clinic but the way i see it, i've a hell load of shit to do. I'll have to work at "faraway-land" once a week because there're not enough patients for the both of us here. She should be the one going out and not bring me the inconvenience. After all, "faraway-clinic's" a stone's throw from her place.
4) I hate doing 'paperwork', such as updating consent status. Moreover, IDEA$ is processing information at snail's speed and im falling asleep.
5) This place is so dingy looking i totally heart my cluttered room and previous clinic. Can you picture lime green cabinets with a grey solid surface table top speckled black and white? Dont try. Its disgusting.
6) I couldnt swallow the display of motley posters and brochures i tore down everything first thing in the morning.
7) I dont quite understand the need for little toy figurines here there everywhere. They're now rested chucked in a drawer for the good of ruth and her senses.
8) Next to go are the wall stickers.
Excuse me, this is a dental clinic, not a billboard nor an art gallery.
9) The rancid smell of every cabinet and drawer is so nasty 1kg of rotten fish wouldnt be able to mask the stench.
10) Cob-webs in every nook and corner. I wonder if barn spider, Charlotte, brought Wilber the pig here too.
11) These dental units might be as old as grandma. The light cure isnt working and there's no water coming from the high-speed handpiece. Having worked in a school with very poor oral hygiene, if the high speed isnt working, i might as well apply for no pay leave. Serious. I dont care hoots bout going for numbers in rendering my clients 'dentally fit'. At the end of the day, people dont care how fast, how well you did your job. They remember how you made them feel.

Kel dropped by for another surprise visit.
Subclique dinner on 3rd Jan@our work kampong, Kovan!

My self declared liberation. In a bid to achieve my rights simply by swiveling the chair-Access to the Internet world. To connect and maintain good relations with my classmates collegues, friends and family. :D Of cause, MIMsOnline shields me from any surprise visits from my superiors. :P I dont understand why some people get so creative with implementations.
The other PC's for work-Connection with VPN doesnt allow access to the internet.
