Z lost his toothbrushing kit during recess. On compassionate grounds, i nagged and handed him another kit.
Collegue: Say, thank you.
Kid: In a super duper gleeful tone "Thank you, aunty" Then acted like nothing was wrong with calling me aunty.
Me: There's no aunty here
Collegue: Say, thank you pretty jie jie
Kid: Thank you pretty jie jie
Me: Thank this aunty, too.
Kid: Thank this aunty
HAHAHAHAHA.
Case 2
ZT was pushed by another, fell, presented all bloody, whiney and scared. C, my regular fan who often picks up fights, defies teachers, rebutted my C$ and the culprit of all naughty things, rose to the occassion and left me giggling the next 10mins.
He sat ZT down, cleaned up his blood soaked fingers, took him a cup and asked him to spit and rinse. The entire 'reassure patient' protocol was executed by C in his own lil way-someone who didnt seem to careless.
Holding ZT's hands and patting his head occassionally, he sent him to the office and up the hall. I wonder if he returned to class, accompanied ZT till the bell rang or wandered off somewhere else.
So heartwarming, isnt it.
I have since instilled/trying to instill some good morales and values into C. No one is hopeless. I want to keep sowing seeds of hope and faith even if i dont see change; someday, somehow there will be.
Case 3
The fcuking irritating
They expect to be attended to their whims and fancies right away-"comeon la, go private make appointment le also must wait".
They call and drag their sentences, not thinking the operator's in the middle of a procedure-worst, they didnt get through once and would tell me "i've been trying to call through the entire morning" - hello, your kid goes to school at 7am don't mean i start work at 7am-i dont go home nor have recess time when the bell rings.
They get overly anxious at nitty gritties, even after explanation and reassurance.
They think a loose tooth is of great danger and classify it an emergency to have it removed, even at the expense of a traumatic experience.
They don't read/ignore/comprehend the month's schedule pasted on the clinic's door.
They knock (violently) at the locked door or bang the gates against a concrete wall during lunch hour.
They love choosing odd timings and would be compliant when i use the following magic words "its the first appointment, so your child wouldnt have to wait for their turn" Actually, i hate it cause i'd be in the middle of treating a class and an interruption slows things down.
The lower and upper class are grateful for your service, while the haughty middle class thinks its something owed.
They open your drawers and think nothing is wrong with invading your privacy.
They love roleplay-one sits on the dental chair, while the "operator" lowers and chair and looks into their friend's plague-filled mouth.
They wash and drip dry their hands on the floor when i told em to help themselves to paper towels.
They ask for appointments and never turn up on time/fail them-without basic courtesy of informing.
They are so.. what the fcuk. But i dont get affected too easily because i know i've done no wrong against my conscience, nor is it worthy to fume and put my beautiful face at risk of developing (more) wrinkles and bad(der) skin. Afterall, its now a take it or leave it situation.
They can make this list go on-but what's the point when the list can be shortened if mankind becomes aware of situations and be generous with their courtesies. Who can make the world a better place? You and me!
Case 4
Im grateful majority of the teachers release their students for dental treatment. The minority group who (always) instructs pupils to come down during recess time think i work effective 2 hours a day-2 recess slots per session (am/pm).
All in a day's work!
Phew, tgif tomorrow!
Everytime my hands itch to hail a cab, i'll remind myself "a penny saved is a penny earned".
I want to sit a 0.3carat, D-F colour, clarity VS1/VS2, round brilliant cut stone on my attached ear lobes when im 21! March April May June July August September October NOVEMBER!
Tee hee hee.
What so fancy bout a hard material that sparkles? Beats me!
