Anyways, here's an abstract of The Recipe of Success: 5 Key Ingredients Essential in the Making of a Dental Hygienist, written by Dafna Czudner, RDH. It encompasses simple stuff we know of in head knowledge. I'm still working towards an internalisation of the following points, and i hope you are too. Because we need to 'stand above the rest' in order to be successful and have a fulfilling career as a dental hygienist.

1) Constantly stay current. Dentistry moves ahead daily with new technologies and modalities and it is our responsibility to stay current through continuing education. This is necessary and essential for ourselves, colleagues and clients.

2) In order for a dental hygienist to be truly complete within their career, it is necessary to have an overall understanding of all aspects of dentistry. We are not only dental hygiene educators but also overall dental educators. It is our responsibility as a dental hygienist to be able to educate not only within the dental hygiene scope of practice, but also for all aspects of dental care.

3) The ability to communicate well . So much of what we teach and do is encompassed within communication skills, with both our colleges and our clients. Everything, including communication skills, can be taught and learned.

4) Be a team player. The ability to be flexible, to encompass amazing time management skills and not only focus on your days work but on everyone's day. This is something that is recognized and appreciated greatly by your employer, fellow co-workers and clients.

5) Lastly, for not only in your career as a dental hygienist, but in all aspects of ones life, having a positive attitude is something that is essential to hold. To be positive within your work environment makes for better working relationships, increases case acceptance with your clients and makes for a much happier and successful career overall.

Like everything else in life the more you practice the easier it gets.
I dont think i should say i need more practice. I need to remember what i practiced.
