A dinner to Lavender Food Street last night after work brought back regrets of a wrong decision i made 3years ago. And worst, whatever got into me, to sign on a bond 2 years back.
Do you know, the bond for Dentistry is such that u pay for which u have not served. (and my mum and sis let out a "fking hell" on that). And the dental nurses are paid while they study, with no strings attached! Be it bond for the dentists or the dental nurses, the all new dental hygienists and therapists loose out big time.

What have i been doing these 3yrs of my life? Whoever takes 3years to learn how to do scaling polishing root planing, extraction(w/o elevators), fillings(kinda exclude asthetic dentistry), infiltration. Yes, talk bout holistic education, learning BUSINESS MARKETING and taking 3 years of sociology and psychology, excluding modules on prosthetic, aesthetic dentistry, implantology, etc. Hence the need to read up alot more, work, ask questions that seem silly to clinic supervisors, etc.
No point inveighing cause nothing's gonna change. And if u talk bout writing to Straits Times Forum or something along that line, no point. We wrote to feedback.gov.sg in year1(how audacious!) bout i-forgot-what and all has remained status quo, as far as we see it. Doesnt the 'bill' call for exigency accelerated?

I've wallowed in self pity the past 10mins. Its time to give myself a kick in the ass and start on case report for MT due 2/4/07.

talk about 'food for thought'. don't really know how the system works, but it does seems a little silly to even sign on a 'bond' in the first place, when the word itself sounds trap-py, 'saw' your way through is the only escape you have got from that 'grudge'. still. wanna compliment you for being so strong. man. you're seriously one will-minded woman. admirable! for a man like me, i can enter a stage of self-pity and cloud my mind with words elaborating my stupidity, which can last long, real long. hmmm. how do you do it man?

i dont intend to be in the dental line for all my life. and so are u.
we love dental work, dont we. it's the circumstances that forced us out of it. eg. meagre salary.

If i compare yourself with other polytechnic graduates, im really lucky to have secured a job (with THAT nutty salary.) We'd be the envy of many business diploma holders. What more can u ask for, they'd say. My sec sch mate who graduated frm chem pharm cant find a job and is working as part time pharmacist, counting and restocking stock, earning $6/hr. And if you compare with a DownUnder hygienist, we're severly underpaid.
This is me bleeding before HPB for a pay rise. And IF thats dependant on whether you meet your quota, then it shouldnt be a prob for me.
My returns for March, when compared to ppl with same no. of pts is almost rocket high.(MT will be delighted. I've been a good girl when she was recuperating at home. :P) Gonna double count March's procedures again on Mon.
And i do like dental work(think bout using an excavator for caries removal, as a burnisher, as a carver, as a cement plugger, etc) , interacting with patients. Minus future back/neck aches and chairs which equipment is on the right(not suspended abv).
