I met a 30odd yrs old female patient who did LASIK before i went under the knife. With her fairly sore and teary, she commented that my peepers look marvelously healthy. :)
At the registration counter, before i could complete my "Im Jovelle and here for 1st review", my case notes were placed before me for confirmation of identity. I was then called in, almost immediately, for a simple test before proceeding to the crowded waiting area. I anticipated a wait of at least an hour.
Amongst the familar faces, an Indo couple smiled at me. They were asking me bout post op instructions on surgery day. The clinic assistants did their best in explaining but failed to bring certain messages across. Unpremeditatedly, "How're you?", i asked. "Bagus," in unison. Before i could be a lovely Singaporean host and send my well wishes for a pleasant stay, i was called into DrYap's consultation room.
With that signature "Good morning, how're you?", i entered. "Fine and how're you?" came the reply. (The point here is.. I've been conditioned to greet everyone i meet, esp if its a 1-1 meet up. Thanks to 2years of clinical attachment which instilled this "etiquette". It might not be too good a thing, esp when the routine "good morning, how are you, have you had breakfast/lunch?" comes so naturally.. And end with a 'good day. thanks for coming'. Sincerity is questioned.)
Anyhows, my oculus were examined using the slit-lamp biomicroscope. Cornea on the left had some rough edges. I was directed to use antibiotic eyedrops 4times a day and lubricate eye drops as often as needed.
"Thank you, good day" All in less than 6mins.
A short conversation was exchanged with this male patient accompanied by his gf. At the end of it, i heard the gf say, "Why? Very happy huh.." Haha. Jealousy taking over? Hmmm.
