Toothy

Working alone in the new school is plain sailing. Everyday's a routine, not challenging yet energy depleting. Its been awhile since i last solved a problem at work. O, i dont even recall a difficult situation-be it clinical or clerical. I've not been using my brains and i feel like a machine. These cotton kids magically fire the ingratiated tone in me, deliberatly.

Seeing patients one after another non stop puts my bladder at risk, wringing seconds to sip my daily caffeine fix increases my caries risk.
Answering calls from overly anxious parents and spoilt kids who want treatment right away raises my blood pressure. You are turned away, tactfully. In the private sector, appointments have to be made-much more the Sch00l Dental Service. Sorry, not gonna!

You know you're well-liked by the general population when you receive greetings and smiles when you're out of the clinic, when students drop by during recess, when they say "thank you" and skip out of the office. I know i'm well liked. Because i respect and sincerely want the best for my clients.

My seni0r manager called some time ago, questioning a procedure (preventive resin restoration) i did. The preventive resin restoration is a logical extension of the sealant philosophy. The preventive approach of sealing susceptible pits and fissures is combined with conservative occlusal cavity preparation. Instead of the traditional "extension for prevention" philosophy, PRRs limit cavity preparation to discrete areas of decay. These preparations are filled with a preventive restorative material, such as a resin or glass-ionomer, or a combination. Then the restoration and entire occlusal surface of the tooth is sealed. Sounds good?

Her questions, tagged with evident hostility clearly displayed her outdated belief in long deceased G.V.Black's principles. In short, if i recalled accurately, she said/asked (my reply) , "I checked your returns and saw that you did PRRs. (Yes) Are you taught to do so? (Yes) But PRRs are done only by clinical supervisors. You're taught to use CR? (Yes, but i used GIC because I have no access to CRs) I need to check if you're allowed to do PRRs. (Ok no problem. Shall i recall the patients, remove the GIC, deepen and place amalgams?) I think you leave it but let me check if you can do PRRs.

And you wonder whats the fuss over moisture forgiving, economical, possibly environmentally hazardous, questionably toxic mercury, durable, occupational hazardous, in-adhesive amalgams-Aesthetics.

My stand is, the advantages of newer materials far outweigh amalgam restorations, hence the material of choice for the permanent dentition. Yet, credits to amalgam and its minimal technique sensitive advantages cant be denied-use em in the primary dentition lorr.

I want the best for everyone i meet. I, too, desire good karma, my dears.

All in a day's work. All for a paltry sum credited to the non-existant zeros on my bank account.

Birthdays

My scribbles on the parties i attended since Jan.

Pearline

I almost got lost in the Far East exiting the SLE prematurely! Found WhiteSands after circling Loyang and went via the bus route. I arrived a tad too late and so regretted it. Brought along Pictionary and Taboo but only had time for a lil mingling with Fugs and ex classmates. Most of her guests were sportingly spotted in green! The cake was awesome. Its a wonder how hazelnut and chocolate complement each other so well! Best wishes to Pearline, her love and 2008. :)

Gaithiri's birthday bash was held 2 Saturdays(12th) ago at S.A.F.R.A Yishun. It was a night of purple, white and silver grandeur. 3 tables for amalga.mates, and the majority of us donned white. Her entire bash costs an ass whopping 6grand, 2k lesser than her (really skinny) elder sister. *Whoa*
Gaiz, the lovely lulu, bewitched me with her immaculate make up and hair do-I had no choice but shamelessly called for the busy host to pose for the camera! Her 3 glittery sets of ethnic saris made us look like peasants!
Kel and i, the lovers of indian cuisine, enjoyed the very yummy buffet. *Remember how we used to go for indian dough and nasi branyani? Broke the last piece of papadum and savoured it together gleemingly?*
Cady and Leen were unusally high that night. They readily applaused, cheer and sing (in a really high key, i must emphasize). They make the best emcees!

Julius had a pre-celebration on Friday night at O'Bar and celebrated his 22nd @ Hard Rock on 20th Jan.

O'Bar
Charlie and his angels right outside O'Bar

And his boyfriends

XiaoChris aka XiaoPang (lil fatty)-i just call him AhBoy larh! The youngest in the group and the reason we're not at ButterFactory. Cant ever seem to figure that look on his face. Wonder what's up his sleeves. *Hurrr hurrr hurrr.

Ever goofy Etienne. The all in one commentator, stand up commedian, entertainer and politician.

Left: Aaron, said to be the most Caucasian looking lad-thanks to his deep sunken lazy eyes.
Followed by Daniel-the vegetable chopper at $imLim, birthdayboy and a very buffed up Ninja-my legendary xiao lao gong.

Here's Donovan(median diastema)-the half African, full womaniser :D and a uber photogenic Weiye-serving the nation but keeping up with fashion, nonetheless. Excuse my disgustingly parted bangs.

S.W.A.T. shi-fu and Miss Baba. Mentor Jeremy and Dras. I have to salute and learn from her sensual dance moooves!

The girls.

Oh. I kissed 4girls that night. No, it was alcohol kissing, not me. *Touche!

Not forgetting Liang, who unknowingly didnt snap any photos that night, was charmingly clad in jet black shirt, jeans and sneakers.

Hard Rock

What the folks at HRC call Birthday Surprise.
1) Blow a candle using 3 connected straws passing through his thighs

2) Dig out an artificial cherry with his tongue. Of cause, pop goes the nose larh!

3) Lick whipped cream off my waist in a sensual manner.
Any idiot can tell Tracy's enraptured-at my expense.
Now you see. Now you dont!

Sometimes, i think i'm damn light.

4) Dance.
I almost thought i was celebrating MY birthday. Half the sabotage were targeted at ME! *Hmpf!

Dont group photos make things alot easier? and less interesting?

The following peeps joined us for HRC too!
Ben who pengs prata and sausages with sweat trickling down his temples & XiaoWan the office lady working in the same area as me!

Jin Hyung, Julius' kimchi collegue & Sherman-Julius' beady eyed brother.

Et's very pari pari pretty pretty love, Mary!

Dennis & Joyce, the "conjoined twins".

24th Jan, 1.37am.
Good morning Earthlings. Full moon tonight.
Just returned from dinner with Tim & Aloy followed by a chill out session with the regulars. I hate saying this on a balmy night but i just needed to let it out before turning in.

I wonder if female species around my age understand the importance of expanding ones social circle? Not that having contacts everywhere is important, per se, but its bout the process of engaging, listening and conversing (intellectually) you see. I dont quite understand why some (girls) cant maintain decent conversations with others who are trying to strike one. I admire their ability to turn people off the very moment they speak. The higher levels ones put me off simply by rolling their heavily-mascaraed-lashes combined with unintentionally-smudged-lined-eyes. Dont even mention bout their lavishly abundant lifestyle-are you leeching off the hard work and sweat of someone else? If the previously mentioned statement is true, you're a prodigal-and thats an understatement. My oh my, why am i even wasting time bothering bout em, sacrificing precious beauty sleep? They just make the majority of turkeys dreaming to soar like eagles. Flight plan zero. Kudus, not!
And so, good night sweetie!

Catamenia Catastrophe

Catamenia Catastrophe

Little Miss Cata bombed a code-red surprise on workaholic me and blemished my suit dress cardinal. Of all days, the air-con maintainence man had to make a trip today. After hurrying him off, i applied for an urgent half day leave. Covering the area just below my ass, i sauntered out of school like nothing happened and hailed a cab, most abashed.
In case you're wondering, I missed my period last month and am prepared for a sudden aunty-visit. I guess i was too busy and engrossed at work that i didnt feel a thing. On top of that, i dont usually experience code-red such as menstrual cramps nor plague my pals with mood swings.
Yet im so thankful my leave was granted via a phone call and am able to go for a full pedicure session this afternoon! *Skips around!*

Not the most glorifying matter to start 2008 with. Looking forward to 6th Feb, tie up the lunar year and start afresh-again. Strong believer in giving and receiving 2nd chances.

Passed by a 3 vehicle minor collision at Whampoa South on my way back. A motorbike, van and salon car were involved. Butt on tar, face white washed, the rider was trying to 'blow' dirt off his grazed arm. Being a kind hearted and k-po citizen of Sg, I took a quick shower, grabbed medical wound cleansing supplies and cycled down. I swear i was as fast(10mins) as Dash(Incredibles) can be, but was prolly 5mins too late. The casualty has been sent off, car driven off, leaving the van and its driver, a chui bike and a Traffic Police reporting the situation. The disappointed citizen u-turned for home.
Point is, lunch time and on a busy road towards the city, doesnt anyone who bothered slowing down to look-see stock a FirstAidKit in the car? Or are we carried away by the hustle bustle of life and neglect the survival and shelter needs of others? Did anyone offer a lift to the injured? Was speeding, using communication devices, poor judgement, .. the cause of the accident?
On hindsight, i see the need to always be ready, in season and off season. The need to foresee changes and expect the unexpected. In an instance, these are no longer lines quoted ever so often, but a learning point at the expense of others, indeed.

Oh. The full pedicure session took bout an hour and am currently wearing OPl Got The Blues For Red. I prefer the previous, OPl Rose Petal! Up next, i wanna try OPl Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ.

Yippee. Signing off on my most hated day of the week: Tuesday.
Mondays arent blue .. because .. the weekends just passed.
Tuesdays are a turn off .. because .. weekends seem eons away.
Wednesdays pass by fast .. because .. its the hump of the week.
Thursdays makes my neck grow longer .. because .. friday's nearing.
Fridays are to thank god for .. because .. its the end of a work week.
Saturday is my Sabbath and i respect it .. because i work on Sunday too.
Sunday's work is ironically dreadful yet fulfilling .. because i get to learn and earn.

I must say im one random girl.

Rhapsody

I cant think of a suitable title for the following paragraph, but i figured a hint of enthusiasm in roller blading right now. There's this estatic feeling being on 4 wheels-8, actually. I know we look like a bluebird (translates 'lan.jiao', chinese.&.dialect for the male organ of copulation and urinary excretion.) but having set feet in the workforce, i cant afford to have another knee injury, much less an injured wrist arm.

Anyways, if there's one make-up product that i can't live without, its gotta be M.A.C.'s Eye Br0ws in Lingering (Crayon Pour Les Sourcils)! It confidently adds shape, defination, colour and density, is self propelling and self sharpening-all in one streamlined tool! Striking arches adds confidence throughout the day! Easy to tote around, fits snugly in my wristlet but that doest really matter cause this stuff is long wearing! After 10-hours out: Yes, i do have deep lines under eye caused by habitual vigrous rubbing before sleep. Yes, i do have dark eye rings. Yes, i do have a rash on the inner cantus. Yes, i looked like i used marker eye liner but i didnt. Yes, there's no mascara on. Yes, this photo doesnt do justice to my double eyelids. Yes, i have to boast bout my almond shaped eyes. Yes, i love my LASIK-ed orcs! Oh no, my ill-trimmed brow has casted a shadow on my lids!

Before this mystical invention, I swore by M.A.C.'s Brow Finisher in Beige Blonde. Its a slant tip, wax-style(smooth and non-sticky!) grooming tool specially formulated to shape and hold the brows in place while providing them with a sheer, slick, polished and conditioned-looking finish. Long wearing but doesnt fill up gaps as well as EyeBrows! Oh, in case you're wondering, its non-sharpening too, dumbnut.

Venturing into mascara's because nature hasnt blessed me with lush, luxe lashes. Yet with the stroke of a brush, abracadabra! Mirror mirror on the wall. Who's got the widest brightest sexiest peepers?

I didnt get an A+ in make up class. Yet 2 coats and my lashes fatten and seperate nicely.
Au revoir to fatigued orbits!

Contary to the belief of many, M.A.C really is a budget contender to premium brands. I SWEAR BY IT in every cent sense.

New Clinic

I couldnt help but rant bout my new work environment. Kindly bear with me!

1) Clinical supervisor is way too naggy. I heard of the multiple rocks that sparkles and sits on her wrinkled fingers.
2) Senior manager isnt one bit senile. I dont know why kel and i calls her lobang. She does nothing with loopholes.
3) New part time collegue, who comes in the afternoon has caused me much inconvenience. She's put in charge of the clinic but the way i see it, i've a hell load of shit to do. I'll have to work at "faraway-land" once a week because there're not enough patients for the both of us here. She should be the one going out and not bring me the inconvenience. After all, "faraway-clinic's" a stone's throw from her place.
4) I hate doing 'paperwork', such as updating consent status. Moreover, IDEA$ is processing information at snail's speed and im falling asleep.
5) This place is so dingy looking i totally heart my cluttered room and previous clinic. Can you picture lime green cabinets with a grey solid surface table top speckled black and white? Dont try. Its disgusting.
6) I couldnt swallow the display of motley posters and brochures i tore down everything first thing in the morning.
7) I dont quite understand the need for little toy figurines here there everywhere. They're now rested chucked in a drawer for the good of ruth and her senses.
8) Next to go are the wall stickers.
Excuse me, this is a dental clinic, not a billboard nor an art gallery.
9) The rancid smell of every cabinet and drawer is so nasty 1kg of rotten fish wouldnt be able to mask the stench.
10) Cob-webs in every nook and corner. I wonder if barn spider, Charlotte, brought Wilber the pig here too.
11) These dental units might be as old as grandma. The light cure isnt working and there's no water coming from the high-speed handpiece. Having worked in a school with very poor oral hygiene, if the high speed isnt working, i might as well apply for no pay leave. Serious. I dont care hoots bout going for numbers in rendering my clients 'dentally fit'. At the end of the day, people dont care how fast, how well you did your job. They remember how you made them feel.

Kel dropped by for another surprise visit.
Subclique dinner on 3rd Jan@our work kampong, Kovan!

My self declared liberation. In a bid to achieve my rights simply by swiveling the chair-Access to the Internet world. To connect and maintain good relations with my classmates collegues, friends and family. :D Of cause, MIMsOnline shields me from any surprise visits from my superiors. :P I dont understand why some people get so creative with implementations.
The other PC's for work-Connection with VPN doesnt allow access to the internet.

2007 Reflections

Hello earthlings.
It is that time of the year when one looks back and start contemplating goals and plans for 2008. As i take a moment to reflect on lessons learnt, count my blessings, revisit some fears and gear up for the year ahead, i do hope you're doing so too. Because out of every experience, there's a learning point, only if you look closely enough.

Work
I've learnt not to live by the "Almighty" dollar. Really. I can never execute the importance of financial planning, growing the bank, being able to provide for my family, fulfiling my materialistic self, etc. But I guess there's more to life than making loads of cash. A decent part of me has been enlightened after joining xxx. Week after week, i see their passion in dentistry, technology, patient orientated mind set, staff well being and modesty.
I want to give my clients my best-hence building a nation of fit and healthy Singaporeans. I want to receive continuing dental education. Looking back, i've never sat through an interview, prepared a resume nor rehearsed lines after lines of lies. Joined HPB in July upon graduation, thought bout the future, lived day by day, thought bout every other option and am ashamed to say i've not come to a concrete conclusion and plan yet. Occassionally, i do see myself breaking my bond and moving on to greener pastures. Yet, the hindering factor lies in myself. I have not mastered enough courage to tender my resignation. Actually, the other plane has their fair share of obstacles and turbulances, but am sure it'll be exciting working things out! There's a lot more to say, but i shall put a full stop here.

Spiritually
Year end and my relationship with my Creator hit rock bottom. I've back sliden. I knew it was happening. Part of me was tugging to ignite the passion again. The other part chose to chuck my church life under the carpet and allow the world to be my play ground. Im not sure if i'll deviate from the original plan (god has for me) but i've welcomed my new life. You might find me back in church some day i dont know when. If there was a god i'd believe in, it'll be Jesus. Being front line at the customer service counter of the bookstore has instilled in me great confidence and a customer orientated mindset so very essential in the dental community. I've also acquired the ability to talk to strangers just about anything. I enjoy meeting people, listening and learning from their experiences and engaging in a decent conversation with them.

Personal Growth
I've finally seen a multi-faceted nature in myself. I can be the mummy, workaholic, wife, friend, larm-nuah queen. Sometimes i wish i was attached, sometimes engaged, sometimes being single spells f.r.e.e.d.o.m in capital letters. Shall not go into the details, but i know im an uncut diamond, possessing shining qualities beneath a rough exterior.

I have to crown myself the most happening being in the work force. I explored different activities such as wake boarding, night cycling, dragon boating, rollerblading, LAN gaming, clubbing, etc.

Ignited the kid in me-an occassionally random me does every silly antics. And i tell you, its really fun looking at puzzled faces.

Growth sideways-Gluttony has obviously taken over me-im no longer able to fit into my w26 jeans. I see no point in fretting over a few kilograms. Anyways, whats up with skinny girls who insist they are fat? Do they seriously see a fat body when they look into the mirrors or do they just derive pleasure from people who go "No.. you are slim!" Worse when they enjoy insisting that they are fat in front of people who are obviously bigger than them.
I admit that im far from being plus sized. I can binge and still feel empty. I dont even know what it's like to be on a diet. My stomach's like a bottomless pit, sometimes. When you are obviously toothpick's cousin, dont be a prick, dont act so irritatingly modest and insist you're phat. Get it?

In conclusion, this year came and went. Well, my career's my major concern for now and i'm just made more aware of fears that still lurk around in the alleys. Yet, i love seeing myself go out and grab the world by the lapels. "Life's a bitch. You've gotta go out and kick ass."

For now, lets celebrate the happiness that there're people who care, make every day a holiday and celebrate just living! Because you deserve the fun, joy, freedom, peace and love! Cheers!

Night Cycling

19th December 2007

I must be mentally deranged to give night cycling green light whilst on MC for fever, body ache, flu and headache. A night full of surprises was the brain-child of 3 acquaintances from secondary school.

Giam (top right) all alert, dressed in blazing red and equiped with 3 light sticks was our 'last man'. We were in the same class back in sec1&2. Joined the NationalCadetCorps and chuckled whenever he saw me in my NPCC uni. The envy of 30 odd students, he remained an unbeatable in Math class.

Leo (bottom left) the avid cyclist was the pace-setter and fore-man that night. As far as sec sch life, me and leo were concerned, he was out of sight, literally. All i knew of him was his notorious heart strings tugging at my BFF. Oh yes, we met (officially) last year at BFF's LunarNewYear gathering. (Uh huh kelly, talk bout your eventful gatherings.)

Tracy and a japeful night brought us together. We used to dislike each other cause "she diao.ed me at J8." (She claimed and so be it!)

Dad the Jack of all trades, master of none was kind to pick Tracy, I and 2 stylo-milo bikes up from home and send us to Esplanade's MakanSutra area. Actually, the above mentioned description is a way understatement. He's the electrician, plumber, carpenter, chauffeur, repairman, painter, cook, etc. An attribute lacking in all men these days. But never a husband i want to have nor hold. Ok i shall not go on with my sticky family issues. Mere few minutes and i've learnt how to dismantle the front tyres of a bicycle! Old he may be, he loaded/unloaded, dismantled/fixed the bikes and made sure the tyres brakes and gears were in tip top condition. He promised to pick us up too!

Fort Canning Park's located in the heart of the city, yet a beautiful escape from the hustle bustle. A magnificant building glowing in warm light, set admist lush greenery. It reminded me to catch a breather now and then, and sometimes, just watch life go by.

At Ministry-Of-Sound expecting a visual treat. Was utterly disappointed cause the handsome were either taken or ghey. The rest looked hum sup.

We checked out Timbre1 and chanced upon a Toyota AE86 Treuno.

I thought we should take a picture here, cause kel and i saw KCG at Lido's McDonald's months ago. Casually dressed in sports shoes jeans tee goatee grey hair half-frame glasses, i went oh-so-gaga and blurted "chu guan!" He and M.Ong were my only inspiration during attachments at NDC. Specialist consultants they may be, but i see their commitment to excellent practical teaching, and their humble-ity is most admirable. I definately miss them, my regular patients whom have shared part of their personal lives with me, and the days at NDC with Joyce. Thinking back bout 'upgrading' from tiny operatory unit 4 to a room, doing last minute preparations for oral viva and case presentation, falling asleep while assisting, helping each other prepare forms, getting impatient waiting for supervisors, being cross with classmates for (unknowingly) cutting the que-aiyah i miss joyce larh. She was my bouncy partner BOTH at NDC & HPB. I vividly remember going the extra mile for some patients, cursing when xxx was supervising that day, changing in.out of scrubs illegally in room9, lunching at the stairs, gatherings with folks from other cliques, ... What did i just say? Thought this's a post bout night CYCLING.

"Submitting my MC the very next day!"

I thought blooming plants are a rare sight here in Sg. These pillars remind me of establishing a strong foundation in any endeavour.

Dad called to inform that i'd have to make my way home. My heart sank as i didnt get my salty fingers on SeaweedShakerFries from the golden magnificant arches of McDonald's. Last group photograph as we parted at Kallang Indoor Stadium.

We were home in <15mins.

Im not a perfectly rounded sports woman, but the driving enthusiasm to cycle at night for hours is so great it makes my 'faults' seem insignificant. It is more than being random and trying out something new, it's bout setting aside time, putting in extra effort to make sure it happens, working together to ensure everyone else's safety and figuring out roads.

Up next year.. PADI Open Water Certification! Yipeee yayy yayy yipee yipee yayy yayy!! Chris, come home soon, honey!

Saturday and my sudden craze in pyjamas. Forgive me for making a sexy hefty purchase of satin and lace. Who's gonna be the not-so-lucky lad? Whoever said pJ themed parties means going in home clothes?

Working with Kristine today was a breeze thou appointment slots were fully packed. At least i know she didnt talk bad bout me since its our 2nd time working together. :)
LadyBoss and her misson trip trap. Excited+++! I love immersing in another culture. Those, are the most memorable travel experiences.

Fuglies

Fuglies was birthed out of a movie, MeanGirls, we watched together back on 21st July 2004. In a nutshell,
1) it was HuiPing's birthday.
2) 6 of us decided to skip a lecture.
3) headed down to Bishan for lunch and a movie.
4) of all days, course manager chose to visit.
5) lecturer called and summoned us back to school.
6) panic striken we may be, we told her we're not going back.
7) and so. i shalln't go into the details of the movie that brought us together.
8) yes, we did get into some shit.

I tried looking for our Year1 grp photo on Friends+er but to no avail. I reckon everyone thinks everyone else is fugly dugly. Here's fuglies on graduation night.

Long overdue gelling session at TCC, Carmen's love joined us.

Happy 20th Birthday CadyBaby. And on her 19th..

Reporting strength: 5men present, 1down with headache. :(

Some of us were so horny we were teasing MrWaiter, subconsciously.

Over dinner, 1 pulled the trigger, i fired the shot, 2 smelt the smoke. (Insider's joke) Haha!

This CB friend of mine was sent and picked up by her LJ bf in a BMW.

Someone loves pink and was reprimanded. Serves her right!
The birthday-girl-to-be thought i looked damn fit and healthy now. What the hell, i've been binging since time began!
